Devin Gross, Chief Executive Officer
Devin Gross joined Emmi in 2004 and has been its CEO since 2010. Devin guides Emmi's vision to empower people to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing through technology-based solutions.
Devin started his career as a hospital administrator and then worked as a healthcare technology consultant, engaging with many of the largest payers and providers in the country. Devin holds a bachelor's degree from Lehigh University and an MBA in Healthcare Administration from Temple University. He has presented at events and conferences on topics such as patient empowerment, behavioral economics and leveraging technology to improve outcomes.
Jordan Dolin, Co-Founder
Jordan Dolin co-founded Emmi with Dr. David Sobel in 2002 based on the belief that technology and communication principles could be used to engage patients in their care and ultimately lead to improvements in both clinical and financial outcomes.
Jordan has 29 years of entrepreneurial experience spanning multiple industries including technology, communications and consumer products. Prior to founding Emmi, Jordan spent three years helping to launch and grow an artificial intelligence software company. Before that he co-founded the Psychographic Design Group which he successfully led for over 14 years. Jordan is an active member of Chicago's entrepreneurial and business community. He is a Mentor in Residence at MATTER (a healthcare-focused business incubator), an adjunct professor at The University of Chicago's Booth Graduate School of Business, a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and serves on the Board of Directors of three early state companies. Jordan received his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his master's degree from the Integrated Marketing and Communications program at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.
Nimesh Patel, Chief Technology Officer
As Chief Technology Officer, Nimesh keeps Emmi at the forefront of healthcare innovation guided by his strategic vision of achieving optimal technology outcomes for patients and providers. Nimesh’s primary responsibilities are focused on expanding Emmi’s integrated patient engagement platform and developing new products to meet the evolving healthcare market.
Nimesh has worked with technology platforms for more than 15 years with a reputation for delivering advanced results. Before joining Emmi, Nimesh has held several technology leadership positions in the financial services sector at UBS, ICE Trust, Boston Options Exchange. In addition, Nimesh has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin and an M.B.A. in finance entrepreneurship and strategy from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Greg Blew, Chief Design Officer & VP of Product
Greg leads Emmi's product and production teams and is responsible for the company's design philosophy, methodology and capability. He works to align both product and design efforts with the company's strategic direction and his teams strive to define and produce high-value, high-quality experiences that make meaningful connections with people and drive results.
Greg has been with Emmi since its inception. He has a background in medical illustration, animation, and interactive design and he has worked with some of the world's largest healthcare organizations, advertising agencies and publishing houses. Greg has served as a professor in the University of Illinois at Chicago's Biomedical Visualization graduate program teaching subjects including instructional design, interactive multimedia design and animation.
John Starr, Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer, John is responsible for ensuring the profitable and sustainable growth of Emmi, working to further our mission and extend our reach through a focus on management of resources, thoughtful pricing and strategic partnerships. John takes a collaborative approach to finance, gathering input and alignment to make sure our policies, proposals and contracts support our business goals.
John brings more than 20 years of diverse experience in all facets of financial management with companies ranging from large publicly traded enterprises, to smaller private equity investments. Prior to Emmi, John held a variety of senior financial positions at Orius Corp., AT&T and Deloitte.
Mark Mulert, SVP of Research and Analytics
As the head of analytics, Mark works closely with our clients to quantify the impact of our solutions. He has conducted numerous research studies and collaborated with organizations of all sizes on projects ranging from retrospective case studies to randomized controlled studies. Mark is very passionate about precision, process and efficiency, and constantly examines our operations to ensure we provide the best service and products to our clients.
Before joining the Emmi team, Mark managed teams and process improvement in start-up, early stage and corporate environments at companies such as Channel Velocity, Inc., The Premisys Corporation, JD Edwards, PeopleSoft, and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.
Shara Cohen, SVP of Client Experience
As the Senior Vice President of Client Experience, Shara is focused on the success of Emmi clients and their efforts to communicate with and engage patients. Shara and her team pay close attention to our clients and the challenges they face—understanding their concerns and making those concerns their own. She is committed to empowering clients to engage patients with exciting and effective technology solutions.
Shara has more than 15 years of experience working in the healthcare industry. Prior to Emmi, she was the CEO of ELM Exchange and VP of Business Development at Advanced Practice Strategies. In addition, Shara holds a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley and a JD degree from Fordham University School of Law.
Steve Martin, SVP of Sales
As Senior Vice President of Sales, Steve is focused on leading the sales and business development process, increasing enterprise opportunities and preparing the organization for future growth as patient engagement continues to play a major role in clinical and financial outcomes. Steve brings more than 20 years of experience in healthcare and sales management to this role.
Before joining Emmi, Steve served as Senior Vice President of Sales at Merge Healthcare. Previously, he held the position of Senior Vice President of Segment Sales at Allscripts, following Allscripts’ acquisition of Extended Care Information Network. Steve currently serves on the Board of Directors for WoundRounds, an electronic documentation and wound care management system.
Scott Ablin, VP of Marketing
Scott Ablin serves as Emmi’s Vice President of Marketing. Scott is responsible for the company’s marketing strategy, product marketing, marketing communications and branding, digital and content marketing, and media and analyst relations.
Prior to Emmi, Scott was Senior Vice President of Marketing at Aldera (formerly Healthation), a next generation provider of core administrative systems for healthcare payers and administrators. Prior to Aldera, Scott held senior-level marketing roles for health benefits provider CIGNA HealthCare and DRX, a leading developer of health plan and prescription drug comparison applications. Scott holds a dual bachelor's degree in journalism and communications studies from The University of Iowa and a master's degree with Highest Distinction in marketing communications from Roosevelt University in Chicago. Scott has also received designation as a Professional Certified Marketer (PCM) through the American Marketing Association, and as a Certified Business Communicator (CBC) through the Business Marketing Association. He is a former president of the Chicago Chapter of the American Marketing Association.
Carrie Nielsen, VP & General Counsel
As Vice President of General Counsel, Carrie is responsible for weighing legal concerns with the immediate and long-term needs of our growing company. At Emmi, she handles all legal issues including contracts, HIPAA obligations, corporate matters and a myriad of other matters.
Prior to working at Emmi, Carrie was an associate at Latham & Watkins, LLP, a large international law firm, where her focus covered complex mergers and acquisitions, technology transactions and licensing agreements. Additionally, she holds a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University and a JD degree from Duke University School of Law.
Sharon Ray, VP of Human Resources
Sharon brings a business focus to human resources, creating policies and processes to ensure our employees are invested in the bottom line. At Emmi, she is responsible for everything that affects HR—from compensation and payroll to culture, employee development, coaching and counseling.
Sharon has nearly 20 years of experience working in corporate HR. Before joining Emmi, she held multiple leadership roles in the global Human Resources department at Kraft Foods.
Bob Tavares, VP of Business Development
For nearly two decades, Bob has helped payers, providers and other healthcare organizations develop and execute technology-enabled patient engagement strategies. His hands-on experience makes him uniquely suited to guide Emmi's popoulation health management strategy during a period of increased collaboration between payers and providers.
Bob's primary responsibility is to develop and manage channel partners who integrate Emmi products into their population health, care coordination and care management solutions. Prior to working at Emmi, Bob was the Vice President of eBusiness Development at Uniprise and the Director of Payer Solutions for WebMD Quality Services (formally known as HealthShare Technology).
