Documented Education for Patients
These days it is not enough to simply offer patients educational materials on safety, it is essential to document that the patient has received and reviewed this critical information. The ability to share safety information with family and friends who partner in a patient’s care is a central part of providing patient-centered care.
With EmmiSafety programs, healthcare organizations can document their patient education efforts associated with specific National Patient Safety Goals. The programs are prescribed to patients by healthcare providers, to ensure each patient receives consistent safety information. As patients view an EmmiSafety program, the entire learning experience is documented, giving providers the ability to know whether their patients viewed the program and if they completed it.
Patient Feedback
Providers also have the option to include surveys or links to additional information resources and unique question functionality. All of these features are aimed at giving providers the power to obtain important patient feedback.
EmmiSafety Programs
EmmiSafety consists of four programs:
Patient Safety: A comprehensive overview of patient safety topics designed to be viewed in the hospital or prior to admission. The program educates patients about general safety issues. It is closely aligned with the 2009 NPSGs; engaging the patient to participate in their care to achieve those goals. The Emmi Patient Safety program replaces the 2005 EmmiSafety videos.
How to Give a Good Medication History: Educate patients on how to give a comprehensive and complete medication history with How to Give a Medication History. The program includes a worksheet to help patients organize their health information. This program aligns with NPSG #8 (08.01.01 –08.02.01).
Taking a Medication History: A companion program to How to Give a Medication History for Patients, designed specifically for healthcare providers. It educates healthcare professionals on how to take an inclusive and detailed medication history, ensuring standardization throughout your organization. This program is especially useful for healthcare professionals without a lot of experience taking medication histories. This program aligns with NPSG #8 (08.01.01 – 08.02.01).
Taking Warfarin: This program is designed to help patients understand how to be successful and safe while taking Warfarin. The program engages patients to take an active and informed role in their anticoagulation therapy. This program aligns with NPSG #3 (03.05.01a).
